Remote door lock problem. 1995 300TDi 3 door Discovery...

Hi all,

I have a problem with my drivers door lock. The key remote operates both lock and unlock. But, when I 'unlock' I have to put the key in the lock afterwards to just turn that fraction more to open the door, otherwise I cant open it.

Can anyone offer suggestions on whether this is a wear problem or a set up problem and what the likely repair required is? Also, is this a common fault on Discoverys?

lube and or there is a little spring that goes bad in the assembly, it can be bought at least for the 1998 d1

 

It's the spring in the door lock mechanisn.

On eBay look up "Land Rover Discovery 1 Door Lock Repair Spring 5 door set" by the seller "phillipstuart33".

Replaced all of mine as the original Springs rusted and we're failing. At first I replaced the door lock actuators as I thought that was the issue but it turns out the springs were failing.

Couldn't have done it without the people on this forum helping.
