Default Replacement fuel pump issues. Please help!

I received a fuel pump from autopartswarehouse.com. They swear it's the same pump. But my old fuel pump has 2 electical plugs. This new fuel pump only has one electrical plug to fit into. What does the second plug do and will it still work. Everything else fits besides the new fuel pump has 1 plug and my disco 1 has two plugs to plug into it

No good. Your truck has AEL(advanced evap loss). The other plug is for a pressure sensor IIRC.

What would happen if I just left the second plug unplugged?

I think you would have major issues. Your emissions system would not function properly.

That is why I avoid places that do not have the proper knowledge about Land Rover Parts. LR made many mid stream changes. My 97 is pre_AEL and only has the one plug, later in the same year they totally changed and those are not interchangable. Look at the identification plate under your hood for the emissions data, Regular or Advanced.

Do they make an adapter since the fuel pump is the same. Make one plug adapt into being two plug?

You need to return that pump and buy the correct one.

What exactly is wrong with your old pump? If the housing, float, connectors, etc are in good shape you can reuse them and just swap the pump for a late 80's Chevy pump. Just the pump will run $50-100 for just about any auto parts store. Search, there's lots of info on this method.
