Am I correct in saying I don't have to pull off the PS pump or the A/C?

I'm gonna say no since none of that connects to the front cover

Nice. Rave did not say anything about them. Just the coolant and radiator. And the top end and oil pan.

Hard day. Did finally get the viscous fan off. Chewed up the end if the pulley pretty good. Will be sanding down the teeth marks from my channel locks. Cracked the bolts loose on the crank pulley. Still need to figure out what I am going to do to secure the crank to remove the crank bolt.

Will keep updating with pics. I expect to get quite further tomorrow.

what i typically do if ive already got the pan off is stick a piece of hardwood between one of the crank throws and the side of the block to jam things up while i reef on the bolt. granted this is on 4cyl motors... if you cant find a piece of hardwood, try a normal 2x4 with a bag over it so as to keep any splinters from getting into stuff hah

If you have a long enough 3/4 breaker bar (if not add a piece of pipe) it will hold under the frame and you just bump the starter. That is enough to loosen the crank pulley nut. Tightening it is the fun part. Once you get to that point I'll post how. If your safety conscious about bumping the starter without starting the motor remove the fuel pump fuse.

Think simple, be smart = common sense.

I saw the starter method on a 4cylinder. I used to be a tech so tools are not a problem.
When looking at the engine which way does it rotate?

Look at the fan, it sucks, not blows. That is your rotation.

Not entirely, different years use different direction threads.
I do not know which years are which thread direction.

before you do anything try to use an impact

If that doesnt work pull the pan and do the 2x4 method. You pan probably needs to be resealed anyways

the bump starter method scares me
