There are fewer and fewer beached that one can drive on anymore.

I look forward to a long backroads trip in mine after I finish dome current items on it.

I recently changed the name of mine from RECOVERY to MEANDEROVER.

I took a black Sharpie andded the M changed the L to an E and added an E between the D and the R on the hood. It has a double entendre, the first being Me and De Rover, the second being what I intend to do Meander Over.

One Guy who I know saw it in the parking lot at the grocery store and was admiring it as I walked up. He said that is One Mean Rover. I just smiled and said yeah.

I am looking forward to Meandering all Over the Wilderness in it camping, fishing, and golfing with my grandkids and then taking it on a long trip back to my old stomping grounds down south of Atlanta and visiting the really old places my dad ook me and my brothers camping and fishing and golfing with my country cousins.

It should be a blast.

Danny, we were at Assateague Island in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, Virginia. That's a long name, but it's on the east coast of Virginia. It's not a real hot spot, except for fishing, crabbing, clamming and oysters. You can drive on the beach, but they want $70 for a year's permit. On my budget right now, that was too much. I have driven the Disco on the beach at the outter banks of N.C. and that was fun and down in Florida. But it's mostly been a vacation hauler. I guess the sexy part is in the eye of the beholder, but the simplicity and classic shape look timeless, much more so than the toaster-looking LR3.

Well, I went on a road trip last night(a road trip on our island is anything more than 5 miles...). Drove to the end of the road(literally). It was 32 miles round trip. So you guys that complain about the cost of fuel on those long trips, consider yourselves lucky to have the roads to drive on for more than an hour.

I love reading about others' trips mainly 'cause I can't do them.

I spent two years of my Navy enlistment in Key West Florida. A1A literally ends in the ocean at the Sothern tip of the island. It is something like 3 miles wide and 5 miles long. Lots of loacals ride bicycles or each other.

But it does connect to the mainland via A1A and a series of bridges, one of which is 7 miles long and named the 7 Mile Bridge. It takes you 2 hours just to get to Miami.

Of course I did not have my Rover back then, just a Yamaha 500 and a 67 Chevy Window Sport Van 90 that served as a mobile storage locker for the Yamaha when I was deployed.
