Should I have full coverage on a 1996 truck?
I’d say no cuz after deductible you’ll get squat and not worth the premiums every month. That being said, I’m starting to look for a set value policy. I’ve git good money in my truck and I want it covered. I’d be heartbroken at this point to be given 1200$ after putting in so much TIME & $$$.
Cant get covered as a classic so I’m trying the custom route. We shall see....

Maybe consider a classic car insurer, like Haggarty, etc. You basically tell them the dollar figure you want to insure it for and they figure your premium. If it is totalled, you get the agreed upon value. The value does have to be within reason. I will need this for my 68 Bronco at $20k.

I actually end up paying much less than that now because I snowbird, and the truck stays in Maine. They have no problem with my taking the liability and collision off when I am in Florida - I leave comp on year 'round. Wish I could do the same for the car that stays in Florida! But that one isn't paid for yet.
I don't agree with any insurance policy; they force you to gamble. Pay more per month, pay less when you need it. Pay less per month, pay more when you need it. It's how they confuse you with options, so it's harder to compare rates with other carriers. Extremely unfair with health insurance; gambling with your life. Thx Obama. ..NO I didn't say that! No one read that!
If you're lucky enough to not have an accident, long enough to save what you would pay for full coverage, you'll have banked what insurance would pay if totaled. Have an accident before then? Snake-bite. ..another gamble. But who would leave that money alone, when you could use it for something else, like bills, or ARB lockers, or another Rover??
