So what did you do to your Disco today?
New steering damper relocation brackets. The frame mount is aluminum so I left part of the angle for added rigidity.

Also got two small LED lights about the size of a quarter, for $4.50 shipped. I'm pretty impressed with the amount of light they throw considering they're about the size of a quarter. I plan to put one in each of the two holes left when my tail light gaurds ripped out.

Bad picture in my basement, but I think they'll be nice for reverse lights. I might pick up a couple extra ones for rock lights.

Yesterday I fixed the tailgate door lock mechanism using the little round spring I got from Phil Stuart in England via EBay. This left me reassemble the rear door and put the DII subwoofer assembly I had adapted into place and reassemble the door with the repaired panel & storage bin.
I also started to pull out the fuel pump, but the fuel pump housing is a mess and the retaining ring is a worse mess, rusted and butchered. I soaked it with PB Blaster and left it.

didn't do anything to the rover today. it's running just fine and i needed it to run for parts for the '04 suburban that keeps on crapping out. all in all the '96 discovery has proven more dependable than the suburban so far. though, in fairness they have both needed their share of wear and tear maintenance parts.
still, there is something satisfying in using the land rover to run for parts for another vehicle. atleast, that's what i tell myself as i spend money on parts for the chevy.

Today I finished the fitting of the Gentex auto day/night mirror with temperature sensor & compass. I used an adpater that used a button mount on top of a block of plastic that had set screw in the sides.
Soaked the gas pump retaining ring with more PB Blaster.
Removed the air filter box, MAF, and inlet pipe for cleaning. There was actually sand in the MAF and inlet pipe.
Some P.O had chopped off the wiring when they took out the old mirror and replace with with e mechanical day/night mirror, so I had to fix that.
Turned on the ignition and it came up, told me I was headed north, is was 28 degrees and "ICE". Brrrr. It was right. I went inside.

This one said it was out of a Ford Expedition, but the sensor was marked "GM", so who knows.
