put some more pin stripes on the old rover. finally got a chance to drive some old logging roads on my dad's property. pretty over grown and had some trees that had fallen over the trail. my son and i were able to put the tow rope to good use and pull the fallen trees out of the way and then continue up the ozark hills. pretty amazed at what a stock discovery on old tires can do. unfortunately, didn't get any good pictures, so you'll have to take my word for how steep and rough the logging road is. my brother-in-law on his dirt bike had a hard time making it; the rover crawled right up. went up with the CDl locked and back down again in low locked CDL.

then drove a second logging road with some tire ruts about a foot deep. little nervous on this one, especially when i had to turn around on the trail because of a rather large fallen tree. reversing down the trail i was afraid i would rip up the rear muffler. but finally was able to turn around and get back out and with no damage done.

all in all lots of fun and very happy with what my stock 14 year old truck can do.

Let's see, I rebuilt my front drive shaft, replaced my factory muffler (went with the 2.5" Dynomax Ultraflow round 6" unit) (sounds good and doesn't drone) Changed oil and balanced the tires.

Snipped the red power leads going to the small Daytime Running Lights that are connect on the back of the headlight housing that come on with the parking/marker lights on my '01 D2 and wired them direct to a fuse in the under hood fuse box that comes on with the ignition in Position 2. Now, I have DRL automatically when I drive. Also, took the opportunity to do a little deeper cleaning in the area behind the headlights, grill, and front turn signal lights and shined up all the lamp & connector contacts and added dielectric grease.

Eureka, the Terrafirma Big Bore shocks and heavy duty coils are installed and got a super lift.
But nothing comes without a price:
The Propshaft knocked due to the extreme angel.
Fixed that.
Need to space the front stabilizer to prevent propshaft touching on extreme down travel.
Then another Jacpot:
Broke a timing belt and the adjacent damages (Broken rockers and bent push rods)
Had that fixed overnight.
Then comes the curve ball:
On the highway @ 120 it runs smooth but the moment the accelerator is released there is a awkward noise, grinding and rambling.
My thought: Mayebe the CDL?
Soooo!!!! what a nice weekend I had.
(Oh yes and in the meantime the computer also crushed.)
Had it fixed today.

Thanks,The moment we took her of the lift the main gossip was:
Now you need bigger tyres.

Definately will come.
(First must overcome this 2.5 K (USD) knock)

Ordered up bushings to refresh the suspension on my new (to me) D1. Let the fun begin.

Managed to mix and match from a couple retailers to get it down to just over $100 for everything including shipping.

Bushings for radius arms, both ends; trailing arms, both ends; upper-rear control arms; and the panhard rod.

Going to disconnect the rear sway completely, and the front sway bushings look good so I'll just leave it.

Rear ball joint will be looked at when I get in there...

Well my t-case shifter engaged the CDL and wouldn't shift from hi to lo but wouldn't disengage the CDL. So I tore down the center console and fixed the issue. Also changed the t-case fluid while I was at it.Also discovered someone else had been in it before. They cut out the rubber boot and insulator. So now I get to hunt down some new ones...yay.
