I run coastal 85w-140. Change it often. Heavier than stock but it does good in my truck.

When bushings become like melted rubber, what causes that?

Finished the rear brakes today. With the new master, drilled rears with EBC green pads, it stops a gazillion times better. Just have to find time to do the fronts.

Began taking things apart to get to my heads. It was a painful step to take to see it start coming apart again. But hopefully I will have a solid engine when I'm done. Which would be nice since I haven't driven this truck over 50 miles since I bought it. and yes, I bought it a year ago.

New water pump & CLR'd the radiator. Had really good flow through the radiator as I was flushing with clean water, hoping this will be my fix. Next step (I'll know tomorrow) will be to have it either rodded or to get a new radiator.

Overheated a few weeks ago while 4wheeling on Spring Creek in Downieville - it ran cool all the way up I-70, but when I was basically idling and pushing the engine hard with no real air flow.

And yes - I have a 180 degree tstat, new fan clutch, etc.

New shocks are on the way also - Spring Creek did a number on mine. But I guess running 10yr+ old shocks with a lift will do that.

Had a productive day at the Upull yard. Rear u joint driveshaft with spline flange and a new rust free spare holder. All for $35.

And I've already got new joints ready to install.

Also just ordered Terrafirma +2" shocks.

Default Lowered Disco 1

What did I do with my Disco today???? Well I have done it........
After weeks of battling, chancing propshafts, replacing U joints, wasted oil seals, phasing and re-phasing drive shafts, fitting new transfer case just to get my Disco to ride smooth the decision was taken to remove the 2"spacer lift.
Due to a back yard job on the spacers a cutting torch was needed and a few blisters and cuts later from the baby grinder (without guard) it was done.
Kept the Terrafirma Big Bore +2 shocks and heavy load coil springs.
The front propshaft was set to 45* "out of phase" and the rear 100% in phase.
Replaced the T/case oil seals (Metric) and awaiting the 2 Pinion seals. (Imperial)

Did not test drive yet. Need to get rid of all the EP 90 oil which is deposited onto the whole under carriage and smells like a oil pit.
(Maybe I should leave the oil = Automatic rust prevention Disco 1 )

My experience: Disco 1 above 3" = TROUBLE :
Pics to follow soon.
