So what did you do to your Disco today?
Swivel grease can migrate into the diff oil as well. I just use a piece of wire to use as a makeshift dip stick for the swivels. About half full is good in my book. I am getting grease in my gear oil and the swivels are leaking so I will be redoing them with donor housings with the drain plug and a RHD knuckle to bring the track bar up front. A complete swivel seal kit with everything you need is about $21 per side. Its a good idea to replace the swivel pin bearings while your in there too. Whole job should be less than $150-200.
Aha! I knew there was a trick to it. Now i have something to do tomorrow.
Forgot to mention that part. Its a must.
Wheeled my junk this last weekend at the Midwest Land Rover Rally.
600' into the first trail on Friday I busted a lower spring retainer. Spent the rest of the day finding a place to make me new ones in Podunk, IN. Found a real nice shop to cut and drill two pieces of 1/4" x 2" for $20.

Then had to fart around installing them. Since the new set was thicker I had to loosen the upper retainers and spin the whole spring.

Finally got my junk back on the trail and the LR3 that wad helping me blew out an airbag.
Indiana engineering at its finest!!!

Ok, not really. His friend brought him down another airbag that night and he swapped it no problem. We did use the "Stump Jackstand and Tool Holder"(patent pending).

Had some fun on the trails and found some tippy spots.

Made good use of our rock sliders, too.

Broke off another passenger side mirror.

Put my DOM trailing arms to the test, scratched but not dented.

Made it home safely.

And best of all I found a use for those D1 cupholders! Mmmmmm, honey mustard.....

Since I've been stuck working midnights at work I've been looking up maintenance parts for everything that has probably never been done and realized that I can buy another entire D1 for the cost of a descent roof rack. Why the heck are these things so expensive?
