Haha I wish, I also did a thing today as the hood is now dented.

Now that your safe and recovering I gotta ask about those hood vents?
Next question is how to prevent rain from getting on top of engine?

Default A good find!

Met a fellow Disco 1 owner, who effectively gave me a full set of headlights, rear lights, lenses, etc. Even a trunk mat and a bonnet liner. The D1’s that he has are being merged into one, and the extra parts came my way. Nice to have these hard-to-find or rather expensive pieces for my 97 D1. This was a total surprise.

Well the vents are off to the side basically over exhaust manifolds as much as possible so hopefully water won't go down into the valley area. If it's parked and the engine is cool I'll just lay a small cut out piece of tarp over the top of the engine. Then if I'm going to go somewhere I'll just pop the hood fold it up and stash it in the cargo area or under the back seat.

I've known several people with hood vents and rain never bothered em so we'll just have to see.

Small price to pay for letting all the excess heat out. I used an IR temp gun once I shut the engine off. Hood was at 112F & the vent area was 140F so hot air was certainly venting from them no doubt!

Spent 1.5 days trying to remove a 2inch piece of bolt which was fused together with the rear upper arm/upper ball joint assembly. I knew it was going to be a rough job as the XD is so RUSTY. One bolt took 2.5hr of hammering/heat to beat out while one refused to budge at all. I had to resort to a sawzall to remove the assembly then I drilled & drilled on that one 2inch piece that was left. Then it finally broke free. Install was 30min job lol. No more creaking and I went with the 45 degree grease-able unit. Bolt wise I had no choice but to go with 7inch Grade 8 1/2 bolts as the unit I got didn't come with new bolts.

I am hoping that the radius arms on my ‘97 D1 will be relatively easy to undo, for bushing replacement. I will likely take a wire brush, clean around the nuts, and do an overnight spray of WD40 or similar, prior to work.

I would recommend 'blaster" wd40 not very effective to assist removing rusty bolts/nuts
