Default Stuck Thermostat?

Would a thermostat that is stuck partially open cause me to run a little hot in the summer and a little cold in the winter? During the hot summer months here in STL I was running around 200 degrees F. Now, when it's colder I'm running around 174 degrees F. The temp outside has been right around freezing.

Thanks,

You probably need a radiator. I'm running ~170F in the cold weather. Stat is brand new.

A stuck, or partially stuck thermo will cause the engine to run hot, no matter what the outside weather is.

When has a coolant flush been done last? Takes 15-20mins to change thermostat and make sure bleed hole is up.

If we are talking about a thermostat which is stuck OPEN, this statement is false.

A couple of years ago I took a 2 hour ride with an open thermostat in 15 degree weather and it was nearly impossible to get heat into the cabin.

When yo change your thermostat, get a piece of 3/8' hose and siphon out coolant from top of radiator into a container. Much easier and cleaner than pulling hoses off.

Yes, of course. I assumed we were talking about a stuck closed, or partially closed thermostat, which causes the most problems.

Where is stl ?

Either way with the stock 195 stat I would expect to run around 200 in summer

If you run a 180 stat and run 200 I would say you need to work on it

Right now I am running high 70's with 180 stat and its like 20/30* in morning, I am now running just electric fans
