Default Update Erratic Tach

Hey guys-

Just wanted you guys to know what happened with this in case others can be helped. Had a guy take a look at the gauge cluster and he replaced a small board in the dash and my tach is now working perfectly. As a side effect, not 100% sure if it's related my trip odometer came back to life and my fuel gauge actually reads full when I fill it up. Before it would read 3/4 tank no matter how much gas I'd put it in.

Pictures attached. The part was about $36 USD which is cheap for where I am right now.

The tie in with the fuel gauge is some electronic circuitry to do "anti slosh" smoothing of the signals for the fuel guage.

Can you provide a little more specific info regarding the part number possibly and the exact location? Mine is so erratic I am 99 % sure it is a bad joint some where on a board.

I took the board out of the protective plastic box it was in and there's some type of part number. I unfortunately didn't see where the fellow put the part back in but I believe it was behind the gauges. If I root around in there this weekend I'll try to locate it.

Attached a better picture for you that includes the part # (or some type of part #)

Interesting find shrink.

Looks like you have a pretty Rover-friendly pal helpin' ya out. A lot of us, I sure didn't, even knew that little board existed

I pulled one out at the yard back at the end of November, and took this pix, thought I posted it for someone. Right out of the instrument cluster, think it is the one and only in there.
