Throttle/accelerator pipe

Throttle/accelerator pipe
Hi, I've just started fixing up this 96 discovery 1. I'm pretty inexperienced but it's not too big of a job. I was wondering if anyone knew the name of this pipe coming off the accelerator? My guess is that it might be the throttle housing pipe return. Is this something that can be replaced with generic piping or does it need to be more specific. Thank you for any help 😊

The broken rubber tube is for the cruise control. It works by vacuum from a pump up near the air filter box, then tees off to the brake pedal switch. There are kits available on-line to replace the tubing and tee. It only affects cruise control, so should not be a very high priority on your list. The CC electronic control module can be problematic too.
The Workshop Manual for Discos has a very good maintenance check list. I bought one for a hefty price (about the cost of a tank full) and have not regretted it. Publication Number Discovery LRL 0079ENG BB includes sections about engine and gearbox overhauls.
Looks like you have some cleaning to do. Good luck with the project!

Yes as everyone else says, the manuals are a fine idea. I tend to like google and youtube and have survived without the purchase.
In direct answer to the other part of your question, i.e. can you replace that roached hose with generic vacuum hose?, the answer is Yes. But I'm going to guess based on the condition that there's a lot more cracked hose, and a brittle plastic T, and then whatever device it plugs into, and then the electronic control that are also hosed. As @JohnZo mentioned, it should be a low priority as these beasts are not really in their zone while on cruise control and typically have a laundry list of higher-importance tasks to address. I would hazard a guess that less than 15% of cruise controls on D1's are functional.
Post an intro and let everyone know about your new project. You'll get lots of help from very knowledgeable folks around here!

The link gives you access to the manuals, they can be downloaded as a pdf file and there is no charge, I am more of a 'dig through the manual' type of guy but then that is up to you. the manuals are from Land Rover and are the ones they use in the dealerships.
and my cruise control works fine.

you can swap out the D1 cruise module for a D2, they seem to work better.
