What is this concerning sound?
Hello Good People,
Yesterday I heard a very concerning rattling sound under the hood. I thought it was a failing water pump which was replaced 9months ago. After giving it a good listen the rattling noise is coming from the area within the green circle. Sometimes its not as loud, sometimes it’s a bit more.
We are experiencing high weather temperatures in the upper 90s and the Rover's overflow container has been spilling out a few ounces of coolant. This could be more than one issue so bleeding the coolant system could be needed. With the 180 tstat I have notices fluid coming from the overflow container at 215F.
My main concern at the moment is the new rattling sound and what I should be doing first.

I was thinking the exact same question! Sorry, I can't help with the rattle but a loose shield would be a home run. Fingers crossed for you.
definitely could be shield,my 97 drove me nuts with a rattle and i finally figured out it was the shield,it mounts with a clip to the starter and when i pulled mine up i never really got it back on right!! until now, also wish you luck,i also had a rattle from the cat conv shield
Thank you gentlemen for your quick responses!
I was sweating bullets and thought the worse, I guess the overheating got my nerves a bit rattled like that heat shield.
Walt, the gauge is:
Marshall 0-60 Psi Fuel / Oil Pressure Gauge Carbon Fiber 1.5" Dia. Liquid Filled
It can be had for less than $20.00, you'll also need an adapter to get it on the truck.
Looks like tomorrow I return to bleeding the coolant 101 again.
Thanks again everyone, much appreciated!
