Default Is my starter dying?

My disco 2003 SE7 is behaving (again). I am getting a really weird sound right after I crank the engine. It seems it is coming from the starter. This sound comes even when the engine does not start. Any clue?
Thank you.

Check engine is not on. I will upload a short video for the sound later but it is like the pinion from the starter keep running inside the housing (starter's) and it is metal against metal. The funny thing (and the reason for my question) is that the starter is working fine (beside the noise).
