Window Regulator Bushing Repair(alternative method)
#51
I had replaced all my regulators years ago , new from British Atlantic, OEM parts. This was before I found this forum, and before this thread. I did them myself but those things are expensive, especially the front regulators. Well, I heard a clunk noise, and my left rear is out again. That window has only been down maybe 10 times in ten years and the reason I did it this time was to let my cat hop out through the window. Ten times is not used, and that nylon bushing/slide is broken. Maybe the heat? here in Florida? Or cheap material from LandRover? The clear light grease is still slick and no debris on it either. Anyway, this time I know I can just replace the nylon instead of about $70 dollars (back then) for the whole (rear window) regulator. Thanks to all you guys for your input.

Here is an interesting fix soldering a coin on the stud in lieu of a nylon roller
I repaired my driver's window with the Hillman #884587 3/8 (.375) x 1” nylon washers But an easier route is to purchase replacement rollers from a fellow who uses a 3D printer to make up the rollers in two pieces to nest together around the stud and be glued together to make the two halves into one roller. Unfortunately I can't find the link to his web site right now, but you may be able to find it with a little search or he may be on eBay - can't remember for sure, but he is out there somewhere.
I also welded a plate over the back of the unused keyhole and filled it smooth on the inside with JB Weld so the stud can't get caught in it in the future.
OK, found a thread on these two piece rollers here
