Are you just wiggling the wire? If it is loose, you need to figure out why and tighten it up. It will never run consistently with a wire loose for some important function.

And you should change the fuel filter also if it is not fresh.

You were right. I took the Discovery to a mechanic that specializes in Land Rovers. They looked at all the wires and said they were fine. There was a leak in a vacuum hose, they replaced that. They also reset the computer. I guess the whole reason I had the problem to begin with is there is an issues with exhaust. I was in my wrangler so I could not hear what the mechanic was saying very well but it was something with the back pressure and the exhaust. The computer kept trying to compensate screwing everything up. They should have it done today or tomorrow.

On the positive note the engine looks like new and everything else looks good.

Picked the Rover up today. It drives perfect! Now to fix all the cosmetic issues.
