I called the local dealer to get a quote on a pair of key fobs for my 2000 D2.

They only work on 2008 and newer.

It’s a completely new paradigm when even the dealer is unwilling to take your money at any price. Way beyond man bites dog.

Get the 315MHz fobs off ebay, and find someone with a Nanocom to program them for you

I think thats been the paradigm for at least 15 years.

Jeep dealer isnt going to work on a YJ

Honda dealer isnt going to work on a del sol.

CAN vs a mix of ISO and device specific scan tool protocols, lack of OE parts availabiltiy. Juice isnt worth the squeeze.

Maybe they’re hoping we’ll just give up and buy a new one? I love mine, and I’ve had it 26 years, but I would never, ever buy another LR.

How is setting up a remote keyless entry handset "working on" the truck? Sheesh.

In my area it's this kind of electronic tasks that are often over the line. Want a power steering pump replaced on a 56 year old Chevelle Malibu? No problem. Program a key on a car more than 10 years old- get outta here.

Yeah not super surprising it's a 22+ year old model I'd assume the oldest they'd work on is an LR3. Are there any independent rover shops in your area? Also a pair of fobs from the dealer, programmed and all would be like $800+ I got a quote last summer out of curiosity and my dealer quoted $600 cdn just for the fob + programming on top.

Where are you located? Maybe there's someone with a Nanocom not far away who would help you out.

It's not all dealers, the Richmond Virginia dealer hired two mechanics to work on their classic division which is anything older than 2010

I quit going to the dealerships once all they had for LR swag was a pen and a golf tee lol. All my friends are running their own independent LR shops now, and if I need something all I really have to do is ask. The LR community is very unique in that manor if you ask me. Post on a forum, or to your local LR Club and people will always reach out to help.
