Truck has been running awesome, until today In the past 2 months - ,battery,power steering pump,lines,belt,tensioners,plugs,thermostat,CTS and most of the 60k per Disco Mike. Wires were done by PO. Coil packs unknown.
Seafoam done 3 tanks of gas ago. Acceleration improved and truck has always quick to start whether hot or cold. Temp quage has been spot on.
Today it was a mild 45F out and morning route for errands and kids school as usual. Truck has 1/2 tank of 93 rated fuel.
Check engine flickered on and went off. Came back on at idle while at traffic light. Rough running and it seemed like cylinders were cutting in and out. Scanned at autoparts store shows misfires in all cylinders. Pulled plugs and installed new Bosch. Checked wire leads and visual inspection of engine compartment. All fuses and relays are clean and dry.
CEL is now flashing and truck runs like CRAP.
ARchives point to coil packs or fuel pressure.Neither of which I can do thanksgiving day!!
Looking for some ideas before I go on a witch hunt.

What brand plug wires did you use?

 

PO installed Grey 7mm wires that say OE suppression on them. Do not know the brand. Would they all fail together at once?

 

Chances are slim that they all crap out at once. Can you start your truck now that its dark with the hood open and look for a spark show?

 

Agreed that the chances of them all going bad at once is slim, they could have come loose though.
Also doubtful all the coils went bad at once.

 

Check the connections that actually plug into the coils. How did you do the job? did you do it without removing the Plenum?

 

spelling, reading??? What the heck is that?


If you read his post it clearly says that the previous owner changed the wires not him......: confused:: confused:

Witch hunt to include:
RR coils and wires
Check fuel injector O rings
Test MAF
Replace fuel filter

I suspect sea foam treatment might have dislodged too much. Or the CTS that was just installed is faulty. Will post up what I find.
