I went to turn on my Disco II this morning. But when I turned the key in the ignition everything came on as per usual. The radio and lights but not the engine no sounds, no movement dead except for dash lights. I turn it again, same results. I know it's not the battery as the electronics work. Just the engine isn't responding.

Could this possibly be Ignition Cylinder, Alternator, or some kind of unseen third issue?

 

Do your brake lights come on when you put your foot on the pedal? Does the readout on the dashboard correctly align with the position of the gearshift lever?

 

Remember, a battery can have low cold cranking amps for starting regardless if it has/shows good voltage.
Also really check the battery for loose or corroded connections.

 

starter motor could have died also.
