03 with flashing oil light
My 03 disco with 94000 miles just recently started to flicker its oil light at me at hot idle. No engine noises or leaks. I'm going to change the oil pump, and I was wondering if anybody had an opinion on rebuilt pumps and their durability. I like the price alot more. Also was wondering if its possible to have a bad pressure sensor and if there is anyway to test it myself. One more thing, I want to get the oil pressure tested but don't want to tow it or drive it. Is this something that I can test myself? Thanks for any help.
Yep. I know all about the vin#, but being that I have 94000 miles on it I don't think its going to be a problem with the block. I'm wondering if its just a pressure sensor and thats why I want to know if there are any tests that I can do myself.
The oil PSI sending unit is cheap, $15 at AutoZone when I bought mine 2 yrs ago.
They will rent you a oil PSI tester.
Plug it in, follow the directions, simple.
Unless you are the original owner there is a good chance that this has been fixed once already.

Never assume with a Rover.
I would suggest you go to Rover Connection and get a new oil pump and front cover to make sure, or as you have already done, look into that used one on the classified section.
Let us know how it turns out.

Well its a $10 part, it might be a good place to start.

I would hate to have to spend $1500 when a $10 part could have fixed it.
That pic was taken in White Cloud this spring. It was a wet gloomy rainy day.
But it was fun.
