Default 1999 disco 2

Hey everyone, I'm looking at purchasing a disco 2. Someone had told me that discos have a problem with the front drive shaft regarding being unable to "grease" the shaft and that being said that it just has to be replaced.

They told you the right stuff. The front propeller shaft will begin the "chirp" and shortly thereafter it will come apart at speed, impale the transmission, and kill it. The fix for this is written up in our forum's Discovery 1 section, the technical listing, propshaft rebuild with pictures. The new universal joints are on the order of $20 each, two for front, one for back. The write up covers Disco 1 and Disco 2, because they are similar.

In the same area you will find a "what to look for when buying a Disco (D1 or D2)", and a list of differences between the two. Also list of things to do to maintain a high miles truck that is new to you.

Below you will find a link to the free download of the factory manual set, called the RAVE. It is a pdf of most manuals, including workshop, electrical, owners, body repair, etc... Covers D1, D2, etc.

Hope boat is not too big. Trailering capacity does not equal that of an F-350.

Also you can use statewidelist.com to search all of craigslist for one state, put in Rover, the state, price range, and dealer or pivate seller - it gives you a list by city. Price seems a little high. Sub woofers ripped out of back door. Look for oil leaks, work down from that price. You may not want to buy the first one you fall in love with, she has lots of cousins...
