My LR Disco II will crank but not start. It sounds as if it is about to.....battery has been checked. Its strong. Supreme gas has been added..no help. All fuses have beeen checked...none bad. Has anyone had this problem before and/or give me some advice?

 

Search this forum. There have been a lot of good posts about this recently. First and foremost I would check your fuel pump to make sure that is working.

 

Read up on failed crank sensors.

 

Thx for the suggestions...was told it could possibly be fuel pump......wanted to eliminate small possibilities first.

 

How do you check the to see if its the fuel pump.....is it listening for click at the gas pump?

 

It's hot outside in most parts of the country. Do what Mike said.... check for spark, and if you don't have it, replace your crank sensor. About $60 at autozone.

 

you can have a partner turn the key on and off.
Then your job is to be under the Discovery in the rear listening for the fuel pump come on then off.
It will only run briefly until you crank it.

You may not even be able to hear it.
I am not sure.

But, do what MIKE says!!!
Replace the crank sensor.

 

That is spark or gas, a failing crank sensor can kill either or both.

 

Sprayed ether on and held throttle open..started ....ran......shut off. Think its fuel pump
