Default 2001 Discovery 2 Transmission

Greetings, could someone help me figure this out, I don't believe the transmission is shot and it is some other problem.
Changed transmission filter and fluid problem remains. Problem is intermittent when put on drive sometimes the vehicle acts like the brake is on and hardly moves.
At times if I put in neutral and move the high low lever and re engage it to its original position in low gear and put it on drive the transmission grabs perfectly
Sometimes I have to try real hard time moving the high low lever and it does not engage. On the highway at speed it goes. Today it would not shift through the gears and stayed on one speed then is was fine again. I know one of the battery cables is loose and not attached correctly, got new Catalytic converters this is the only problem.
what could it be?

.

Morning and welcome. A lot going on here, and I don't follow some of it. Start with the battery cable, and all of the heavy cable connections for that matter. At the battery, block beside the alternator, starter, etc. Make sure everything is clean and tight and see what you have and post back.

You need to reset adaptive values: disconnect both battery cables and leave touching together overnight. Your transmission will re-learn values next day.
