Default 2001 Land Rover Disco SRS light on

SRS light just came on a few weeks ago - had a mechanic check it and told me it was one of the sensors.
However he did not have the diagnostic tool to tell me which one.

Is this a common problem with the Discovery II - or could it be just a connection?

Where should I start?

I don't want to bring it to a dealer because they will charge me at least two hours to diagnose it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

No this is not common but it does happen.
The last time it happened, if I remember right it was a dirty connector on one of the seatbelts.

I have same problem. What exactly do you have to clean?

What I did is inserted the front belt buckles into the retainer latches a couple of times as very rarely do I have a passenger in the Discovery. Apparently with the belt not being used the sensor (didn't know there was one there!) built up some dirt/dust and tripped the SRS light.

You might want to get an electrical cleaner spray and spray that into where the seat belt latches but not too much.
However, try just inserting the belts first to see how that works (with the engine off).

Glad that worked.
The seatbelt being buckeled is how the airbag knows that somebody is sitting in the seat.

Also, under the drivers seat is a little white plug...check to make sure it is clean and tucked into its strap

Well...The SRS light has officially left the building! The last few weekends I have been haulling a bunch of drunks(my friends) out to the bars. I think just having a butt in every seat and the the seat belts being used has fixed the problem! 99% of the time it's just me and maybe the Ole Lady in the Landie so I guess the absence of use can cause a problem. Thanks for all the help!
