2002 Disco Low Oil Pressure
#22
Hey all,
I just completed a pressure test after reassembling the Disco, looks like it was that one bolt by the oil pickup tube. My current pressure test results are now:
Initial Startup: 46 PSI
Steady Cold Idle (750 RPM): 40 PSI
2K RPM Cold: 46 PSI
Steady Hot Idle (700 RPM): 32 PSI
2K RPM Hot: 43 PSI
Versus before:
Initial startup: 32 PSI
Steady Cold Idle (750 RPM): 6 PSI
2K RPM Cold: 16 PSI
Steady Hot Idle (700 RPM): 7 PSI
2K RPM Hot: 14 PSI
Thanks for assisting me everyone.

So this bolt .. when it's left out on purpose .. causes the PSI to drop creating all sorts of issues ...
You never needed new bearings ... it was only the bolt that was missing that was the cause of the low PSI ?

I left it out by mistake, but yes. It looks like if any bolts in that area are left out or not torqued it will hinder oil pressure. It’s like sipping a soda with a cracked straw, the air bubbles come right on in. I’m lucky the issue wasn’t more severe.
