2004/2003 Air Intake to Throttle Body Compatibility?
This has been a confusing process. I need to replace my airbox (clips broke) and air to throttle body tube (nipple connector broke).
I’ve found a replacement that is allegedly from a 2003 and wondering if it would be compatible, the section (I think it’s a muffler?) coming out of the intake tube looks different.
Would this be a compatible replacement or should I keep searching? If it’s compatible, are there any reasons to consider finding an 04 one?
I’ve attached pics of mine and the one I’m looking to buy.
My engine bay, with airbox and intake tube Part I’m looking at as a replacement
That’s for the 99-02 models. The seller description is incorrect.
That’s what I thought after further reading. From what I read it should still be compatible, is that the case? Are there any reasons to keep looking for an 04 one? Any changes to performance or potential for other issues, fitment issues, new codes popping up etc?
I recollect the MAF hose diameter is different on the pre-2002 versus the 2003/2004. It is to accomodate the larger air displacement for the latter's 4.6L engine.

Exactly, yep. I’ve had both and they weren’t interchangeable MAFs.

Its designed the way it is for a reason, you should keep looking for the correct one.
Update: I've found another listing, these are the pics I've been sent.
TSome rusting in the clamps, but I can get new ones. Looks like one of the clips from the airbox to the MAF sensor is broken, does anyone else see that?
looks like the camera angles were chosen to obscure that broken clip (r side of both lid photos). Might allow a bit of unfiltered air in, but not super critical unless very dusty driving environment. Maybe shop for a lid after buying it.
The actual MAF sensor itself = identical for 4.0/4.6L the only difference is with the housing diameter. I've ran 99-02 intake tubes on 03-04 setups until I located a good unit.
