That black roof is gonna be wicked hot in the summer.
The ac in my black D2 throws ice cubes...but between the heat from the black body and cats right under foot, it's awful in summer.
Radiant barrier under the carpet and above the headliner is the cure, and makes it much quieter.
I've already done the back half under the carpet.
A 4'x25' roll is $50

I park in a covered garage at work so I am out in the elements except when I am driving home. I’m not sold on the black either that’s why it’s a peel coat. I might try white as well or put it back to silver in the spring.
I don’t want to mess with the headliner though. Not something that would end well with my level of “skill.” 😜
With the mechanical stuff behind me, I am going to shift my focus to aesthetics. Replace brittle trim, remove scratches from the paint and fix broken buttons. Would also like to fix the power locks on 2 of the doors.
Waiting on the extended sway bars to come in from lucky8. Was inspecting the front end and saw a lot of surface rust so I decided to do a little bit of cleaning and rust removal.
Knocked of the rust with a wire brush and an abrasion wheel. Cleaned and wiped down with brake cleaner and then hit it with some reform and seal. Don’t have a lot of salt or snow in north Florida so I am hoping this is enough to keep the rust at bay.
The kit
Nice, clean look. I think I will keep going!

I was getting a clanking noise in the front end going over speed bumps. Did some reading and found that after a lift the sway bar links may be too short so I ordered an extended sway bar link set from lucky8.
I thought I would go ahead and replace all 4 tonight but the front two kicked my @ss because they were so rusted on. Finally got them off and it was pretty easy to add the new ones. I will wait on the rear until the links have had a day to soak in penetrating oil.
Time for a test drive...
The kit Had to add a pair of vice grips to mix get the bottom nut off Old and new Finally front two done after 1.5 hours.
Ordered new A pillar trim for right and left. Also ordered custom rock sliders from a Dark Crow Designs. Hopefully get them delivered mid January for installation.
Did the new front link bars eliminate your noise going over bumps? I have a noise from the drivers side front going over bumps too... sort of a creaking sound...

Unfortunately it did not. I only have the problem in the parking garage when I hit the speed bump at 5mph. Sounds more like a clang. Doesn’t happen with other bumps. Going to tighten the front shocks and shock towers this weekend to see if that helps.
