Default Painting The Rims

Decided to try out the rustoleum peel coat on the wheels. Turned out great on the spare so now I am on to the others!

Yeah the rub but only on tight u turns or pulling into a tight parking space. As long a I go wide when I am turning I don’t have any issues. All the same, I will probably get some spacers for them in early 2020.

This coating is pretty flawless and self leveling. Very impressed with this stuff!

Default More Progress Today

I made a lot more progress on the disco today. Lots of little things but the biggest one was an intermittent chirping while in motion. Last week I greased the new front drive shaft and tried to do the rear one but the zero fitting was clogged. I finally got around to it this weekend. Pulled it off and cleaned it out with paper clip and some break cleaner. Screwed it back on and pumped the shaft with grease. Took it for a test drive and the chirp is gone!!! I thought sure this was the shocks or springs but it looks like the rear drive shaft had been neglected for some time. Also since the smoke test, tightening down a intake hose clamp and cleaning out the vacuum solenoid the SAI error codes have not returned.

Lastly I picked up some 1000 grit sand paper and lightly sanded the alacantra panels and they look new now! Can believe how easy that was!

With as much money as I have sunk into this thing it feels good to get so many nagging things behind me.

Alacantra panels look new!

What was the operational symptom of that SAI valve being leaky, other than the codes?

When I did a smoke test, all the smoke was pouring out the solenoid.

I wonder if I have the vacuum tubes going to the solenoid reversed from when I replaced the purge valve. Would it cause an issue to swap them around and see it that resolved it before buying a new solenoid.
