I meant operational, like was your idle lumpy, hearing a tic, burble sound under the hood... typical SAI indicators...
it’s hard to tell with this thing. Idle seems like it is within range oscillating between 650 and 675. There is a tick but not sure if that is “normal” or not. Seems to be running ok in my opinion - just have the errors that popped up on the drive home. The engine was warm and no errors for about a day.
I used brake cleaner to clean out my ps resivoir .
The screens were gummy and blocked.
I thought that the brake cleaner would probably eat the screens, but had nothing to lose.
Drained the fluid, held it upside down, and hosed it out with the brake cleaner straw until it looked brand new.
Let it evaporate in the sun and sit until dry, and it works perfect.
This convinced me that a "refurbished" one is probably done just the same, maybe checked for leaks, and boxed back up for a huge profit.

Started the power steering flush process by pumping out the old fluid from the reservoir and dumping in some Seafoam hydra tune. Looks like my SAI codes are back so I’ve got that to work on. Oh joy.
Pumping out the power steering reservoir. These things are persistent. Need to pull the SAI pump and make sure it is functional.
Finished putting the peel coat on the roof. Because it is a matte black it doesn’t match the trim or bumpers which are more of a gloss. That kind of bugs me so I am going coat it with some clear coat and see if that looks better.
Power steering has been flushed out per the sticky and seems to be running better. I couldn’t get the bleed hose connected right so it went everywhere when i went to bleed it out. I had a groan when doing hard turns so it will be interesting to see if the flush fixes that.
Also found another cause of the creaks and rattles I have been dealing with. Seems my right rear shock was coming loose so I got that tightened up.
Spraying the rustoleum peel coat. Not crazy about the matte black on the roof. Going to add some clear coat to it to see if that matches better
Happy Thanksgiving! I hooked up a blower to my exhaust to pressurize it. Sprayed it with some soapy water and found another small exhaust leak on the drivers side manifold at the gasket. Quick torque of the studs and I was good to go.
Next I spent some time with the SAI pump which had been giving me some P0141 errors. Quick inspection and I saw that the power connector had come loose as the locking mechanism was broken. I reattached it and added a zip tie to hold it in place.
Cleared the codes and took it for a test drive. Rover is running great, lots of power and acceleration and relatively quiet at idle.
