Your approach is just one way that this problem can be corrected. ANY repair using aftermarket parts, installed by anyone other than a Land Rover certified technician, could be seen as an unapproved workaround, yet there are thousands of such repairs documented on this forum alone.
Users take the advice of this forum under their own judgment. Just because something is written here doesn't mean that the forum endorses it, or is liable for any errors that might result from it. Same is true for any of the tens of thousands of other online forums, and the same was true for enthusiast groups that were around long before the internet existed.
You're welcome to spend your money on OEM parts, and doing so is certainly a good way to fix this problem (albeit only possibly only temporarily). But it's only one of several possible, effective, safe ways to do so.
