Not having done the PolyVee belt yet myself, how difficult is this to replace. Is it a pain to get all the routing and tension right and correct, or fairly straight forward? I ask because I saw a tool specifically for Serpentinve belt replacement in the auto parts store recently, which made me ask this question.

Thanks

J

Its really very simple. You will need to remove the plastic guard on top of the A/C compressor. Take a picture of it with a digital camera to help you out if you need to. Pulley's with grooves have the belt face that way on them. The 2 idler pulley's are flat, so what I call the back of the belt touches them.
You do not need the Serpintine belt tool. Use a socket wrench and I think a 15mm socket to push clockwise on the tensioner pulley bolt, this will push up on the roller and it will loosen the belt.
Thanks,
Dave

Bosshogt,

Am was reading your post on how to replace the crankshaft seal. First, where do you get the parts? I noticed that you gave the name but am new at this forum, maybe you could provide the complete name of the place where you bought your parts. Another question, I read the RAVE manual and in the instructions, it calls for LRT 12-080, 088, and 089 respectively. Are these tools really necessary? Or your suggestion of “a lever bar on the fly wheel. A 4 ft breaker bar on the harmonic balancer “ replaces the need for these tools? I ask these because my D2 2003 is on the 108K miles mark and its leaking oil. I washed the bottom of the engine and noticed its leaking from the oil pan gasket and apparently its leaking also from the crankshaft seal. Am thinking on replacing the oil pan gasket and while its open see if there's a problem with the oil pick-up. Thanks for reading and if you provide me with the shop where to get the parts I wont take it as an endorsement.

Here are 4 good places to get parts. Mostly free shipping from Miami British. British parts of Utah is good too. Both are on eBay if you like that spot too.

I used No special Land Rover tools. All simple tools available from Sears or Harbor freight. Here is the the pry bar set I used to hold the flywheel. You will also need a large socket the size of the crank seal...used to tap it in past flush. The harmonic balancer should pull right off by hand. A puller was not necessary for me. An 2 or 3 arm puller should pull it off. Be careful not to drop it!
