Purchased a 96 D1 in Feb. 09. Had no power steering at the time, after having the pump replaced and then again due to massive leak the pump later

began knocking in march. After waiting 3 months for the O'Reilly's warrantied part, I received and installed the new pump 4 April 2009. Five days later

the symptoms returned; loud knocking , then chirping every few revs and intermittent periods of silence. My questions are: has the pin been pulled on

this grenade?, is the repetitive failure a result of something deeper? or just poor re manufacturing?(last pump was missing thread and I am waiting for

the fourth)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Stop buying your P/S pumps from those guys.

The problem is with their pumps, they are rebuilding them half a$$ed.
Just buy a used one and then return their junk one.

what fluid are you putting in it?

 

i can't believe he found one at O'Reilly's. Disco parts are not exactly the most popular thing in the chain auto part stores.
