97 DI Fan removal from water pump
Absolutely correct. On the D1 (at least my 94 D1) the fan nut goes on via a normal thread rotation. NO REVERSE THREADS. This is when viewing the motor from in front of the grill/radiator. Not sure who started this reverse thread nonsense.
You guys are correct right tightens / left loosens. New pump on and running good. Lucky no damage was done to engine as old pump came completely apart and belt jumped off. Got a little hot before I could get off freeway..
I finally got the fan clutch off thanks to this thread, I had read that it was right hand thread on some forums. Nope it comes off the conventional way. Righty tighty lefty loosey. Glad its not destroyed as a result of that wrong info.
