98 disco stuck in nuetral

Default 98 disco stuck in nuetral

i was driving my disco the other day and came home. i was leaving again and went to put the car in drive and it got stuck in nuetral. it wont go back to park or drive. please help.

If the t/case is in D,and you can't shift the tranny into park, first check and see if your rear brake lights work. If they do then I would say it is the switch/solenoid in the tranny.

Pop the cap on the shifter handle and make sure the clip didn't fall off. Mine got stuck in reverse and wouldn't budge. Just pop the cap off and make sure when you push the button, the shifter moves

theres a white plastic piece on your shifter that acts as a block for the park interlock solenoid, the solenoid is only engaged when in park, and the brake is aplied... however, if this white piece of plastic breaks, itll lock into neutral too.. the only way to get it out, is to remove the top of the console, and physicly push the pin in from the top... and unfortunitly, i dont think you can get just the plastic piece, i believe it comes with the new shifter only
