99 Disco II Starts, drives about 3 miles, dies in flight. Wont start again.

I like The Deputy's suggestion . If not an option, I vote CPS also. Battled same condition last year or so ago with my 04. Ended up replacing MAF and Alternator as well... Others may have had success with the non OEM CPS, I did not.. Ended up after (2) Autozone's CPS failing with OEM from AB. I bit of a pain to install but not awful..

Fuel Pump.
Crank sensor

Scan it for OBDII codes. There might be codes pending.
