Default 99 disco Water Pump?

Hello

I am a new Land Rover owner.

I just bought a 99 Disco as a beach vehicle for the family. When I start it, it makes a squeeking sound from the fan area. I went under the truck anddiscovered some anti freeze on the bottom of the motor. Not dripping just wet. I am starting to think that I have a water pump problem. Has anyone experienced a simular problem? If so is a do it yourself job or should I find a mechanic?

If you are mechanically inclinded, it isn't that big of a thing. Get a copy of the RAVE CD, I think the link to download it is www.green-oval.com, and there are rather good detailed instructions there.

do you have a D1 or D2? D2's have the higher tail lights and the engine looks like it has a bunch of tubes all around. relatively easy on both, but a D1 is easier. I would replace the fan clutch while you are at it.

Alldata bills it as a 1.2 hour job, so it might take you two hours.
Do not buy a Proline water pump, they are junk.

You better get the coolant system pressure tested to vefify the leak,
also if the pump is bad, replace the hoses, t/stat, both idler pulleys and the belt tensioner along with a new belt.
