Sounds like they were having a slow week and just wanted to make up for it.
How long has it been since you changed your steering fluid?

My 2000 Discovery was making that noise when taking a fast corner. The fluid level was a little low. I just added some more fluid and the noise is gone.

When you change you fluid, make sure to use only power steering fluid or better yet, synthetic power steering fluid and add a bottle of Lucas power steering additive to help clean up the valves.
By the way, do you know how to change the fluid?
