I agree with Spike, mine was the same way only disabled the ABS. I would think you may have the wrong fuse, or it is a very strange coincidence that your heat fan went out at the same time.

it is very strange. i tried both fuses too, the abs valve and the abs pump. one at a time with same results.

I pulled the 30A ABS pump fuse and have had no problems.

maybe a stupid question but if you plug the fuse back in the fan works?

Pull the ABS pump relay on the fuse box under the bonnet.

For anyone interested in reading their own ABS codes on a 97&98 D1 you only need to insert a paper clip in the ODB. (bridge pins 5 & 15). There is a "blink" system. The amount of blinks of the warning light correspond to the codes. You can find it in the archives. Earlier D1s had a separate blue, 4 pin ABS connector that you can read in a similar fashion.
