I have a 1997 Disco I. The ABS light has been on steady for about 2 weeks. I tapped all the sensors to get them closer to the rotor per the manual instructions, but no change. Any ideas of where to look for an issue? Could be a sensor which is dead, but I don't know how to test individually test each sensor. Any ideas?

need to have the codes read by the dealer or an indy shop with the right scanner. YOu can call atlantic british and find the nearest shop with an Autologic scanner.

 

I agree, time to shell out a few bucks to get the codes read. I would suggest a small shop as opposed to the dealer. Have someone read the codes, write them down and then have them cleared. Usually after clearing them, they will stay off.

 

Check you brake fluidsensor. This could be dirty and sending false info. Also ensure you fluid is leveled off. The systems are tied together and could trigger the lights.

 

A low fluid light is different then the ABS light coming on.

 

I agree. Low brake fluid or a faulty sensor will cause your brake light to come on, not your ABS light

 

Thanks for the advice. I have a ODB scanner, but I am assuming that I need the Rover scan tool to read the ABS codes. Is that right?

exactly. many indy Rover shops have scan tools and will reset the light without making you fix something else too. Dealer usually won't without doing something else to it.
