Default Accomplished the Option B Amigo Fix today

Had bleed the brakes on our 01 SE with 89,000 a couple weeks ago and the lights went out. But...came back on Thursday and decided to take on the fix. It was pretty straight forward but getting those 3 hex heads out on the bottom with the unit still in place is a trick. Take your time. Use the shortest 4 mm hex head you can find, and know those bolts don't just break free and spin out with you fingers. You have to hold the unit up and turn the hex wrench around. Took it for a drive and no lights as yet. The write up in the stickies is a huge help.

Congratulations! I've been dying to try this on my 01 as well, but just haven't gotten up the nerve to pull the trigger.

My only reason for not doing it yet is that the weather here in TN hasn't been very cooperative lately as you've probably noticed.

I got out and enjoyed it a little tonight, although it would have been even more enjoyable with my ABS and TC...

Having a local guy do the fix for me as we speak, along with head gasket.

Dying to play in the snow with my Rover!

How long did it take you to do it? I think I'm going to tackle it here pretty quick.

Excellent. I'm going to tackle mine this weekend even though the Amigos haven't visited for a couple weeks. I don't want them to come on in the middle of a snow storm.

It took a little more than three hours but was interrupted several times by Miller..my buddy. I really think knowing what I know now it can be done in an hour or so. The limited space to work is the biggest issue. Find a 4 mm hex head that has the shortest leg possible for the 3 hex heads on the bottom.

So no brake bleeding afterward if you just take the front switch off right? That's how I interpreted the DIY anyway...

Correct ShortTom. No need to bleed as you do not disconnect any brake lines with the Option B. Getting your hand under there and removing those 3 4mm hex heads is the hardest part. Oh and putting them back.
