Advice on rebuilding front drive-shaft with greaseable u-joints
Wow I went to the local import mechanic and he gave me an estimate of at least $250 for the whole job!! Now I feel like I would have been hustled if I would have left my Disco there. Anything under $200 was going to be a good price for me. Too bad I'm not mechanically inclined or the job would be under $100.
Though I have to thank everyone on here for the warnings of the driveshaft woes. I almost had mine fall out. It was missing two end caps on one u joint and they where worn almost down to nothing.
I'm curious, what was the mfg name on the boxes, and what were the part numbers?
I noted on the Toddco website that they sell a variety of Land Rover products. They even have a sale going right now (no affiliation). The front driveshaft rebuild kit is just $99, lower than buying here in San Diego, Carquest price about $135 plus tax for Neapco parts. A rebuilt front driveshaft with greaseable zerks, etc. is just $279, plus a $60 core and shipping. At that price, it seems hardly worth trying to rebuild the old one. I do not know what kind of warranty they offer. Phil
Please! Mines goin quick. Please send it to jamesmcgee77@gmail.com Thank you so much.
