Default all kinds of problems.

i have a '96 disco. and had recently found that the v.s.s. is the one cause of my problem. so until i can get my new sensor, i have disconnected it to get to and from work. but at random times the e-brake light will come on and off, and more importantly during quick braking the tach will drop down to near 100 rpm. a couple of times it has stalled out. the radio keeps right on like a champ, but my headlights will dim. is the disconnected v.s.s to blame? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Jared

Go clean and tighten your battery cables then go to your local auto parts store and have a free battery/alternator test run, you'll find your problem.

thanks for the advice i will definitely check that out. do you have any ideas as far as the e-brake light goes? it comes on sporadically. no real harm in it just annoying at night when i can see it better. thanks again for the help.

Check your brake fluid level it maybe just at the add
mark this can make the brake light come on.

Adjust the e-brake cable and that will take care of the light.

ok, well the search continues. i had my battery/alternator tested. they said the battery was bad, and i swapped that out, the alternator checked out good. but it is still doing the same thing. if i can stop very smoothly i can shift into neutral and stop hard at the end and be alright, but if i just emediately shift into neutral as i began to slow down, it will just stall out.
