Any mechanics know how to read OBD ?
So yesterday, I did buy a Crank Position Sensor (Bosch) from I&M Imports in Edm. $120 vs $200 from Dealer quote. I was still satisfied with $200 but thought Id check if available at Import Part store & very surprised with the discounted price so chose that one.
Installed it and was very glad to hear it start! Before this, there wasn't any spark as well, fuel pump didn't make a sound, so it was nice to hear it run!
Also thought Id plug in the OBD to see what it says now as its running. Reports "no codes", stored or pending ? Thought that was strange, but ? Haven't test driven it yet, as the thermostat seems to be stuck so it wanted to over heat. Shut it off, took therm. off to see that it is closed. So just have to do that simple change, then I think it'll be fine again !
Thanks for all of the feedback as it sure is helpful to have other experienced peoples suggestions, from people who have or had same vehicles. This forum is a Great resource !
I was going to say, it sure is a tight spot to reach into, behind Drivers side exhaust pipe. Its worth disconnecting both exhaust pipes from the manifolds as I did. Replaced both gaskets of course as doing it once is enough ($18). Even with them disconnected, it creates a "little" extra room, but not much. Patience is all that helps I think !
So recap: Im very surprised that an OBD didn't tell me where the problem was. It was reading the forums that others posted that made me try the Crank Position Sensor, & thats what it was, awesome to find the solution, so thanks to all again !

The only way the scanner could tell you there was a problem with the sensor would be to watch the RPMs while cranking, no RPMs = a bad sensor.
On page 8 of your live data your RPM = 0?

Possible your cooling system wasn't bled correctly after this work?
Engine cold and off... Overflow tank fully elevated... bleed screw opened while filling overflow tank until bubbles all gone...???
Improper bleed procedure is a common cause of overheating.
