Default Any tips for removing a bedliner like substance from hood

Does anyone know how to remove a thick rubber spray from the hood of my truck. Previous owner did SOMETHING, not quite sure what or why but my hood is covered in this black pealing cracked up garbage that makes it look like it has been in a fire on a previous day. I would very much like to remove it. Destroying the paint is not a concern, paint is trashed to begin all around and completely destroyed under that gunk and I plan to get it painted anyways but I can’t do that until I get all this bs off.

No clue.

I would ask a local body shop for a suggestion.

Aircraft stripper would do it. Nasty stuff but will pretty much remove anything.

Looks a bit like badly done plasti-dip. Goo gone can help loosen it up

You could also walnut blast it off if you have access to the equipment.

If it is Plasti-Dip then WD-40 does a great job taking it off.

Mine looks like that too. I bought a shinier hood (bonnet) for 50 quid.

I'm doing this on my roof this weekend. This stuff is cheap and is my go-to for removal of bedliner. $20 at Home Depot Here's how to use it:
  • Take a towel, drape it over a portion of the hood where you want to remove the bedliner.
  • Wet the towel with Goof Off Pro Strength Remover
  • Wait 10 seconds, remove the towel and scrape off the bedliner with a hard plastic paint scraper or putty knife.
  • Use scott brite pads and Goof Off on difficult spots.
