anyone heard of this chip.
Because i wont spend my money on snake oil. DM said he would though....
The stupid part of this is that there a people out there that fall for bogus things like this everyday unbelievable. Must have been rotten when they fell off the tree and splatted, because they sure didnt roll very far. Worse than that they have the right to vote.

Its EPA regulations, The EPA in the US has a very high emissions standards that manufacture's are forced to meet to sell in the us. While a car like a prius (they suck sorry not sorry) gets great mileage and meets standards due to weight and 2 wheel drive etc. EPA emission standards and MPG are two totally different things EPA emissions standards deal with the amount of CO (Carbon Monoxide) gas released into the air. Ever wondered why there are countless fast european cars on top gear that get awesome MPG but you cant go to a dealership and just buy one, this is because of Emissions standards which they dont meet. its all about the Carbon Monoxide : Oxygen Ratio. Performance chips are basically a legal way to screw the EPA over, they tune the engine to burn the fuel more efficiently producing more power with the same amount of fuel. this increases your horse power, since you can squeeze more power out of less gas you can achieve 3000 RPM using less fuel you SAVE FUEL and since your engine doesn't have to try so hard to get the power to the wheels. The better your engine burns the Fuel the more CO gas you output. thats what the spark timing part does, the change in fuel to air ratio is just so that you still have the proper fuel to air ratio to keep up with the engine. Also if i were going to build a website for this i wouldn't be posting all the individual stats (that would be stupid the EPA could sniff around, find what they missed and make a new law that puts me out of buisness) and writing a new paragraph for each make and model, while the chip may be the same hardware across the board the programming per select make and model can be very different. in other words if you're a tree huger get a prius otherwise flip the bird to the EPA slap one of these baby's on and out perform the next guy.
Piggyback chip.
So, what this really means is.
That the ECU is executing computer instructions from the Read Only Memory - ROM.
Putting on a piggy back chip - means --
You are exactly on the data, address, interrupt and I/O lines of the processor bus in the ECU.
The programmer of the piggyback chip would need to know the address where the CPU does the initial program load
and intercept that address
Then execute the special piggyback code and return code to the existing ROM chip.
So, I am guessing---
The people selling this chip have specialized instructions for removing or
disabling the chip which is under the piggyback chip.
Usually, these chips are selected with an address decoder which is elsewhere on the ECU.
So, there is no way to have the piggyback chip in a different I/O space-
unless that piggyback chip has it's own chip select logic and is monitoring the address lines.
This would make the piggyback chip a custom ASIC.
Maybe possible - but I highly doubt it.
Unless someone at Bosch has inside ECU knowledge leaked out or stolen to these
refitters.
Sure, there are many ways to write a program and there may be a way
to get a more efficient fuel map.
But, the ECU is setup to be self adapting via the O2 sensors.
There may be a way to make it more conservative and less power delivered by the engine on demand..
Or, if the engine is made more aggressive then the fuel consumption rises.
All in all a fine balance.

Here is a software programming solution for your Bosch 5.2 ECU. I,ve done this and can vouch for the results. You Land Rover guys crack me up. So slow to pick up technology that's been around for some time.
www.thePro2DMEeditor.com - Motronic Map Editing Software - Tools for the Tune-It-Yourselfer...
This crap gets repeated every so often and the cycle starts again. Just buy the software to reprogram your ECU and reflash. Cross your fingers if you don't know what you are doing.

snake oil...just like the magnets and the hydrogen generators and the little turbine thing you shove in your intake so it can fall apart and get sucked into the engine...
