Default ATF leak 97 Disco

I've got a pretty bad tranny fluid leak coming from the tranny oil cooler. It leaves a puddle by the front passenger tire every day. Does anyone know if this is a common problem and, if so, what is the usual cause? Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: ATF leak 97 Disco

Sure it's ATF??? There are no ATF lines to leak anywhere near the Pass side wheel....

If it is coming from the Trans oil cooler, seems it would have to come from the fitting on the pass side, or the cooler has a small hole in it. Just pull the grill off and have a look. You may just need to tighten the fitting. If the cooler is damaged, I have one you can have for 20.00 plus shipping...

Default Tranny leak fixed

The leak got really bad yesterday afternoon so I rushed it to a local mechanic and, $175 later it's all fixed. It was the oil cooler, they put in a $60 aftermarket aluminum cooler and all is well.....quite a load off considering we're 500 miles from home right now. Thanks for the advice!
