auxiliary fan replacement question
Is it easy to replace the auxiliary fan? I do not have very much mechanical experience at all. Ive started to some of the stuff myself like the regular maintenance and fan clutch? I haven't found any goo videos on how to replace it, are there any out there?
It's a fairly easy job and pretty self explanatory when you remove the grill, a copy of the RAVE manual will help. There are a couple cross bars which are 13mm, and you'll need a 1/4" drive 10mm socket with a ratchet and possibly a swivel, also some pliers to remove the clips for the wiring loom. A 10mm ratcheting box-end wrench helps immensely for a couple of the bolts. Your biggest obstacle will likely be corrosion on the bolts themselves so some PB Blaster is recommended, and I like to reassemble with Never-Seize. As CR points out, it may be easier to simply replace the motor in situ but I haven't gone that route yet myself.
