I tried the round terminal and everything seems to be good now. Battery light went away. Voltage running under a load is around 14.1. Battery/alternator tester comes back as good on both. I drove the car around and the battery light continued to stay off and everything seemed to be working fine. I need to get and splice on a ring terminal to the exciter wire. I'm currently using a fork terminal but I'm concerned that is going to come off. Or is there a better way to make the connection?

Regardless, thanks to everyone for their help and patience!

Ring would be the best. Just make sure to use the proper size and sized crimper for it
