Battery shopping
That's sad about the Diehard Platinums!!!! I went to my local Sears as a matter of fact last weekend and when I said I'd like to buy a Diehard Platinum 65 (P2) the dude was like oh we don't sell those thru the store anymore... You might wanna try online...
I bought an Optima Red Top 2 years ago for my wife's 07 H3 and it was 1000AMP, and it did perfect thru hot/cold weather until we sold her 07 H3. Jeep people especially bad mouth the Optima Red Tops, but then you look at their rigs and they've got a winch... That's when I say and how did the Red Top die?? Oh when I was winching out on the trail... I then inform them that the Red Top is NOT a deep cycle battery and that only the Yellow/Blue tops are.
I had a Yellow Top in my 05 Jeep Rubicon and it lasted 10 years!!!!!!!!! I used it for winching, keeping my lights on during trail fixes, and of coarse hot/cold weather. I sold the Jeep, kept the battery, and I gave it to a friend which he got another 1.5 years out of it...
I don't really care about brands as much as AMP's, Deep Cycle, and being a Sealed battery. I will truly miss the Diehard Platinum though. I might give an Optima another go as Sams Club has em the cheapest around. I think the Yellow top is actually cheaper than a Red Top as well.

They do still have the Die Hards online if you'd be willing to have it shipped to you. If you want to buy in store, go to advance and try the DuraCraft Platinum 65. It's an AGM like the yellow top, but I've had better luck out of it and its got (I believe) a 4-5 year warranty.

Thanks to all for the battery education. I continue to be impressed with knowledge and experience in this group.
I can now go out and spend some money on a battery.
